I was reading this thread with interest as I play both a warrior and a priest, with my main being the warrior. The aggro problems you are beginning to experiee I think stem from 2 main ftors. The first being the improved gear spelasters have been getting ever sie Tame out. The additional +damage and ritanause serious additional threat. This isompounded by the sond ftor, whh is that the warrior threat building skills do not ale well. That is, they are about as afftive at end game as when we first hit 70. To give an example, I have been tanking for my guild for some time, and in the first few weeks of being level 70 had absolutely no problem holding aggro. As we are winding up towards Kara, I have noted that the threat generated by ourastersan easily pass mine when they are nuking heavily. I was wahing KLH the other day and saw that our party’s druid was doing double the threat per sond that I was at one point. As things go on I don’t think this will improve mh to be honest. Some people are saying that this efft was intentional and that Blizzard wanted to make threat management an issue for the whole partyraid, not just for the tanks.
I agree with pretty mh everything Isfreak said. My (almost) stat group has a feral druid (main tank), pally (off-tank), lk (DPS), holy priest (main healer) and me, a shadow priest (DPS). A few things that have made me a better shadow priest: 1. One spell that helps me do my thing is the pally’s blessing that redes threat by 30%. Nuke away. 2. Like others have said…run a threat meter. These things aren’t perft but they give you a pretty good idea of where you stand on the world’s most hated list. Pull bk when you’re red lining. This is a good time to renew your DoTs. 3. Wait til your tank has about 3k threat built up to begin the MBsMFs. Use the time you’re waiting to initiate the VTVESW:P. Most importantly…know your tank. Obviously hard to do with PUGs, but if youan find someone you routinely run with, you will definitely see a pattern in how your tank obtainsbuild aggro. On our most rent run through Shadow Labs to help the main healer get his first Kara key frag (he’s a little behind, I know), I dealt 967K damage over the instae, topping theharts (not even mentioning that 20% of the lk’s damage is tually thanks to you) and rped aggro only oe (on the first 2 pull when you start, justause I didn’tare). Managing aggro is really fairly easy if you have the tools. Anyway, having tons-o-fun as a Shadow Priest and the guildies love me. If you like it then stk with it, that’s my 2ents.
